Boy, 4, dies after being pulled from Glenview park pool

A 4-year-old Glenview boy found unresponsive in Glenview Park District’s Roosevelt Pool Friday afternoon was pronounced dead little more than an hour later.
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s office has identified the boy as Vincente Cardenas of 2387 Chestnut Ave.
Glenview police said the boy was taken out of Roosevelt Pool, 2239 Fir St., by a lifeguards there at 2:35 p.m. where they administered CPR. The boy was taken to Glenbrook Hospital by Glenview Fire Department paramedics. He was pronounced dead at the hospital at 3:49 p.m.
“We are all very saddened, and our thoughts and prayers go out to this little boy’s family. This is a tragedy for the family and for the entire community,” said Glenview Park District Executive Director Chuck Balling.
Roosevelt Pool closed immediately following the incident and will remain closed Saturday while the Glenview Police Department, in cooperation with the Glenview Park District, completes its investigation.
