Clarendon Hills mom, daughter share first voting experience

One mother and daughter team had a very special outing Nov. 6.
It wasn’t the first time Dawn Tandle, the Clarendon Hills village clerk, had taken daughter Nina with when going to vote on Election Day. But it was the first time Nina was able to cast her own vote.
“I’ve been bringing her with me since when I have gone to vote since she was an infant,” said Tandle, who as village clerk registered her daughter to vote after she turned 18 in September. “We don’t really talk about politics, but it’s an interesting process, and it is exciting that she can now vote herself.”
Nina, a Hinsdale Central senior who hopes to be a teacher, agreed.
“It’s exciting to be able to have a say on what’s going on,” she said. “I actually have an opportunity to determine my own future.”
As much as she was very pleased about turning 18 and being able to vote, Nina said she is glad many of the pre-election activities are now over.
“I’m so glad,” she said. “All of the calls almost made me want to vote for whoever called less.”~.
