Fashion: An ode to the jumpsuit

Maybe it’s because I am a child of the 70’s, or maybe it’s because it’s one of the easiest looks to put together…but whatever the reason, I love a jumpsuit. I am over-the-moon that jumpsuits have made a full comeback and are a hot trend right now. Slip on a jumpsuit, some accessories and you are ready to go!

Jumpsuits, sometimes called rompers, are a great choice for the holidays. You can’t beat the practicality of a jumpsuit if you are traveling, or if you have to transition quickly from work to a party. Like dresses, jumpsuits come in a variety of styles and can range from casual to formal. Think of them as the LBJ – the little black jumpsuit — an essential in every closet. Hands down, the best part of wearing a jumpsuit versus a dress is, you don’t have to worry about wearing tights or shaving your legs!

I found some great jumpsuit options to help you navigate one-piece dressing this holiday season:

This Juicy Couture version is a great choice for a more informal occasion. It has the necessary bling for the holidays but the cozy velour and slouchy fit are perfect for more casual get togethers.

A step up and an easy choice for the jumpsuit wary, is the black, silk, long sleeve Amour Vert jumpsuit. It’s simple design and classic styling makes this an effortless look for work parties, in-home holiday parties and brunches. Dress it up or down with some great jewelry and fabulous shoes and you are all set!

For the events that call for formal attire, this Haute Hippie romper is super sexy, as fancy as a cocktail dress and way cooler. It’s definitely a look that will get you noticed.  If you aren’t looking for that much attention, try this one shoulder Ramy Brook, it’s just as dressy but a little more covered up.

The fashion forward ladies out there have already embraced the jumpsuit but if you are a little more traditional, a jumpsuit might seem a little scary. Put your fears aside and go try some on, there are so many varieties, you can definitely find one that suits your style. It really is one of the quickest and easiest ways to get dressed and look totally put together. Try it and you’ll be a fan too!
