The Chicago Botanic Garden

Registration for the 2012 summer day camp programs has begun. In addition to the Chicago Botanic Garden’s weeklong summer day camp, Camp CBG now offers full-day camps from 9:30 a.m.-3 p.m. for two weeks for children ages 6-9. Parents who register their children by Feb. 29 will receive a $5 per camp “Early Bloomer” discount. Among the camps offered are My First Camp 2 & 3; Green Sprouts; Green Thumbs; Explorer; Adventurers; Leaders in Training; Yoga Bash; and Discover Dance.
Camp CBG provides exciting and enriching learning experiences for children ages 2-12. The Garden offers weeklong camps with morning, afternoon, and all-day options from June 18 to Aug. 17. Online registration is open through June.

De-mystifying Heirloom Gardening: Lecture and Seed Swap will take place with a lecture and book signing from 2-3 p.m. and the seed swap and demonstrations from 3-5 p.m. Feb. 26 in the Fairchild Room of the Alsdorf Auditorium. Families visiting the Garden can borrow Discovery Backpacks from the Information Desk in the Visitor Center. They are available year-round and will be loaned out on a first-come, first-served basis.

Northbrook Citizens for Drug and Alcohol Awareness invites parents and guardians of toddlers through 5th graders to a new parenting series of classes called “Becoming A Conscious Parent — Tools & Principles for Parenting From Your Heart” presented by Lauren Bondy and Karen Jacobson. Get ready for baseball season with spring training at the Y! For the Winter II Session, the NSYMCA will partner with Lincoln Park Baseball Academy to offer classes in baseball fundamentals and hitting for ages 7-13. The annual YMCA 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament is back! Grab some friends and sign up your team of up to four players. High school division plays Feb. 24 beginning at 5 p.m. Grade 1-8 teams play on Feb. 25 starting at 11 a.m. All teams play a minimum of two games, and all players receive a T-shirt. The Y will host its annual Mini Indoor Triathlon on March 4 beginning at 7 a.m. Using the pool, cycle bikes and treadmills, participants will swim for 10 minutes, bike for 20 and run for 15. Earn your NSYMCA Triathlon tech shirt! Entry fee is just $15; open to anyone 14 years and older. Register by Feb. 22 to guarantee your shirt order.
