The Northshore Alumnae Panhellenic Fashion Show at the Wilmette Michigan Shores Club filled the flagship banquet hall April 19 with enthusiasm as the unparalleled Ellen Stirling of the Lake Forest Shop headlined the sell-out event.
Stirling, celebrated on the Chicagoland North Shore for her white-glove boutique sense, also her well-versed fashion show color commentary via podium mic, presented a stunning parade of collection fashions by Magaschoni.
The soaring beamed wooden ceilings at Michigan Shores offered a stunning umbrella for a fashion show, where models representing the sorority wowed with rainbow-worthy chiffon, organza or embroidered handiwork.
“What we’re showing are spring clothes,” explained the always gracious Stirling, who wore an inspiring floral coat dress which could double as a seasonal overcoat.
“We’re showing what is really happening through spring with the wonderful models provided by the Panhellenic society.
“Magaschoni is famous for their knits, their blouses and even more, for their dresses,” she added.
Many of the fashions shown ushered women into fall, proving that fashion sense can be practical and worth the multi-season investment.
A spirit of scholarship also prevailed.
“It’s wonderful,” said Suzanne Lisle, a 25-year Lincolnwood resident who helped to organize the silent auction and raffle.
Items displayed on expansive linked banquet tables featured items such as a hot pink, black and neon green gift bag from la de da!, a Northbrook boutique.
“We support their [collegiate] education, and it’s also our way to introduce graduating seniors to the possibility of affiliating with the national Panhellenic chapters at their respective colleges.”
The Northshore Panhellenic membership draws from across the north suburbs of Chicagoland, engaging women of all ages, all sororities for the common goal of raising scholarship funds for young women pursuing college sorority membership.
