Police Blotter for Jan. 31

ROBBERY

Nicholas N. Klingaman, 31, of 2005 Clover Road, Northbrook, was charged Sept. 26 with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and driving under the influence of alcohol. He was released on $1,000 bond with a Nov,. 3 court date. Police said he was charged after he was involved in an accident at Dundee and Sanders roads.

THEFT

A student’s cell phone was taken Sept. 25 from a locker at Maple School, 2370 Shermer Road.

Sharon K. Chapley, 47, of 2822 Dundee Road, Northbrook, was charged Sept,. 26 with retail theft. Police said she took a case of beer from Dominick’s, 4125 Dundee Road.

A bicycle valued at $400 was taken between 4 p.m. Sept. 9 and 9 a.m. Sept. 11 from an unlocked garage on the 5300 block of Arcadia Avenue.

BURGLARY

Four vehicles at J. Alexander’s, 4077 Lake Cook Road, were broken into between noon and 12:30 p.m. Sept. 29. In each case a window was smashed. A briefcase and keys valued at $500 were taken from one vehicle, a laptop computer and e-reader valued at $2,000 were taken from a second vehicle, a laptop and wireless Internet card valued at $2,000 were taken from the third vehicle and a laptop, Internet card and keys valued at $2,000 were taken from the fourth vehicle.

Several businesses in the Waukdee Plaza at Waukegan and Dundee were broken into Sept. 30. Items taken included change and a small amount of cash. Damage to the stores, however, is estimated at more than $4,000 from windows and door glass that was broken to gain entry.

A total of $300 in cash was taken Sept. 28 from an unlocked safe at the Mobile Town Car Wash, 1101 Waukegan Road. Police said the gas station was entered through the roof.

Five vehicles on the 4000 block of Lake Cook Road were broken into Sept. 29.

DRUGS

Jarrod M. Feldman, 22, of 2251 Congressional Lane, Riverwoods, was charged Oct. 1 in court appearance tickets with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He is to appear in court Nov. 2. Police said Feldman left a backpack containing the marijuana and paraphernalia at Northbrook Court where it was found by a mall security officer who turned it over to police. Feldman was charged when he went to the Northbrook Police Department to claim the backpack.

A 17-year-old Northbrook boy was charged Sept. 27 in a court appearance ticket with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia after an officer stopped his vehicle in the area of Highland and Whirlaway. Police said the boy consented to a search of his car and a canine officer found marijuana in a water bottle in the center console and a glass pipe in the driver’s-side door.

An attempt to break into a home was made between 7 p.m. Sept. 23 and 7 p.m. Sept. 26 from a home on the 8300 block of Tripp Avenue. Police said a door knob was loose and there was damage to a door although there did not appear to be a successful entry.
