Cancer discussion

Do you have a strong family history of cancer? If so, attend a discussion at the Cancer Wellness Center. Led by Certified Genetic Counselor, Kristen Vogel, M.S., you’ll learn about the signs that indicate a family might have a genetic risk factor for cancer. Cooking class for dads

Give Dad a great Father’s Day gift by bringing him to the “Father’s Day Grill Fest” cooking class at Sur la Table! While you bond, you and your dad will learn great techniques on grilling, how to make family favorites, and how to bring out bold flavors when grilling. Ultimate Frisbee

How about some fun, competitive Frisbee games under the lights on the turf at Techny Prairie Park? Every class starts with a short warm-up, followed by separating into teams for competitive play. All kinds of dance!

If your child likes to dance, this class is perfect! Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop and Musical Theatre are all part of “Dance Soup.” Each class during this six week course will focus on one type of dance. For 6-8 year olds. When: Classes are offered at 5-6 p.m. Tuesdays (starting Tuesday) through July 24 or 4:45-5:45 p.m. Thursdays (starts June 21) through July 26. Don’t miss the annual opening of the Northbrook Farmers Market that starts with the traditional Watermelon Cutting Ceremony! Other fun activities for opening day include performances by the Northbrook Community Choir, the Sunset popcorn wagon, craft projects for kids, balloon animals and more!
