D225 board to vote July 16 on scoreboard ads

District 225 school trustees are scheduled to vote July 16 on whether to allow local businesses to advertise on sports scoreboards at both Glenbrook high schools.

So far, Glenbrook South in Glenview has seven businesses to fill eight panels, while four have agreed for eight panels at Glenbrook North in Northbrook.

In December, trustees OK’d installing artificial turf at both sports areas for $3.5 million this summer.

As planned, $400,000 of the total cost would come through community fundraising, as in scoreboard advertising, and to date $300,000 has been committed.

Those businesses and one community group buying spaces for five years were Abt, Glenview High School Foundation, Glenview State Bank, Illinois Bone & Joint, Jennings Chevrolet, Nicholas and Associates and Upright MRI of Deerfield.

Booster clubs at both schools have stated they would raise a total $500,000 over four years.
