Appreciation Night
The Northbrook Park District is hosting a Customer Appreciation Night from 6 to 9 p.m. on June 22 at the Northbrook Sports Center Pool with games, raffles, giveaways and DJ entertainment. The first 100 customers will win hot dogs. Customers can present a pool pass or purchase twilight admission to enter. Visit nbparks.org for information about pool passes, parties and lessons.
Evening Pool Fun
Join the Park District from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on June 24 for wet fun and games at the Northbrook Sports Center Pool. The District offers wet fun from 5:30 to 8 p.m. June 27 at Meadowhill Aquatic Center. Bring a sense of adventure and a pool pass or purchase twilight admission. For more information, call (847) 291-2980.
Park Fest Concert June 26
On June 26, music lovers can enjoy a double treat at Village Green Park. The winner of Rock the Green — Battle of the Northbrook Youth Bands will perform at 6 p.m., and New Odyssey will perform dance music at 7:30 p.m. Both performances are free, and food service from RoccoVino’s begins at 6 p.m. In case of inclement weather, call the Northbrook Park District hotline at (847) 291-2985 for updates.
Rules of the Road
On June 27, a free review class from the Secretary of State’s Office can help drivers prepare to renew a driver’s license. The Northbrook Park District program begins at 10 a.m. at Temple Beth Shalom, next to the Leisure Center. Register by June 26.
Liberty Loop
The Liberty Loop 5K Run/Walk returns to Techny Prairie Park and Fields at 7:30 a.m. on July 4, followed by a one-mile Liberty Lap Fun Run for ages 4-10. Proceeds from both races will benefit the Northbrook 4th of July Association. Register before June 24 for a reduced entry fee for the Liberty Loop. Take Your Daughter to the Course Week
Girls can enjoy a free introduction to golf during Take Your Daughter to the Course Week at Sportsman’s Country Club from July 9-15. Call the Golf Shop at (847) 291-2351, ext. 3 for details. In addition, the Northbrook Golf Academy will host a free Girls-Only Clinic from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on July 14. Sign up through the Anetsberger Golf Shop at (847) 291-2971 to save a spot.
Play with the Pro
Golfers can play the Classic 18 Course at Sportsman’s Country Club with a pro on July 11. Golfers pay applicable green fees (and cart fees), book a tee time for up to three players, and Sportsman’s will pair them with a pro. Call (847) 291-2351, ext. 1 to book a tee time
Wine & 9
Sportsman’s Country Club offers Couples’ Golf on July 14 with a Wine & 9 event. Couples can enjoy nine holes of golf, followed by appetizers and a wine tasting. The golf begins at 4 p.m.; the fee is $79 per couple. Call the Golf Shop at (847) 291-2351, ext. 1 to sign up.
Kids’ Duathlon
The Northbrook Park District and Northbrook Bicycle Club will host the third annual Kids’ Duathlon from 6 to 8 p.m. July 20 at Meadowhill Park and the Ed Rudolph Velodrome. The event welcomes ages 5-14 and includes biking and running. Boys and girls will be in separate groups and will receive free pizza, drinks and admission to the pool afterwards. Senior Olympics
Adults age 50 and older are invited to compete in a six-county Senior Olympics in Park Ridge and neighboring communities between July 9 and July 26. Hosted by the Illinois Park and Recreation Association, the competition includes golf, tennis, bowling, swimming, biking, track & field, horseshoes and bocce. All contestants receive a Senior Olympics T-shirt. The event is sponsored by Presbyterian Home, BrightStar Care and ManorCare Health Services
Summer Camp

Second City
Comedy Trip
Adults can enjoy an afternoon of hilarious sketch comedy, skits and improvisation on July 11 with a trip to Chicago for a performance of The Best of The Second City. Transportation and lunch are included. The trip leaves Northbrook at 11:45 a.m. and returns at 5:30 p.m. The fee is $69 for Northbrook Park District Senior Center members and $79 for non-members. Driver Safety
Program
The Northbrook Park District Senior Center offers an AARP Driver Safety Program from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on July 9 and 10 at Congregation Beth Shalom. Drivers who complete the course may qualify for a discount on car insurance. Call (847) 291-2988 to register. The fee is $12 for AARP members, $14 for non-members
Batting Cages
The batting cages at Techny Prairie Park and Fields are open daily, weather permitting. Summer hours of operation are as follows: noon to 9 p.m. Monday-Friday; 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday; noon to 8 p.m. Sunday.
Players can select baseballs or softballs with a choice of speeds, and helmets are provided at no charge. For more information, call (847) 291-2980.
