The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office is looking into a Northbrook incident that resulted in a criminal charge against a resident and was followed by the death of his father.
Ronald Christiansen, 48, who lived with his 77-year-old father, Ronald, Sr., on the 1900 block of Thornwood Lane, was arrested Aug. 9, police said. He was charged with one count of felony aggravated battery after Ronald allegedly hit a neighbor.
The elder Christiansen, who reportedly tried to intervene, became ill and was rushed to Glenbrook Hospital by fire department paramedics, where he died two days later. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s office determined that Ronald’s father, Donald, suffered a stroke and that the cause of his death was natural.
Ronald Christiansen, who is being held in Cook County Jail on a $25,000 bond, is to appear Aug. 15 at the Cook County Courthouse in Skokie.
