Local author book signing

Kenneth Green grew up in Chicago’s tough Humboldt Park neighborhood, became extremely successful and is now sharing his story. Hear Green’s journey from his turbulent childhood to a boxing career that got him inducted into the California Boxing Hall of Fame and his career as a defense attorney who at one time supervised over 400 lawyers. Green will be signing copies of his book, “I’m from Division Street,” which also includes stories of other Jewish men and women who grew up in Humboldt Park. When: 8- 9:30 Thursday. Wine tasting party and benefit

Enjoy a fun night out and help a great cause at the same time! Kids fishing derby

Hey kids! Go fish! Head over to the Northbrook Park District’s annual Kids Fishing Derby! The Illinois Department of Natural Resources will stock the lake with tons of fish, rods and bait will be given out, and volunteers will help you catch lots and lots of fish! Improv benefit

How about having a few laughs while helping Winkelman and Field schools? Come to the district 31 Parent Teacher Club’s benefit, “The LeBlanc Laugh-off: A Night at the Improv.” Enjoy skits, audience participation and improv games with Winkelman’s physical education teacher, Jim LeBlanc, and the Dayton Improv Club, a comedy group that has performed together since 2003! Blessing for growing season

Join Rev. Cynthia Hallas and the congregation of St. Giles Episcopal Church for their annual blessing of the upcoming growing season.
