Preseason swimming
You can actually go for a swim this weekend. The Northbrook Sports Center Pool will be open! Enjoy the zero-depth pool and kiddie slide, the five-lane 50-meter pool, two water slides, diving board and large sundeck. When: 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Memorial Day parade and ceremony
The American Legion Post 791 and Northbrook Nine invite you to the Northbrook Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony. The parade starts at the corner of Cherry and Western, goes east to Church and Shermer, and continues on Shermer west to Meadow. Musical mayhem
Are you in the mood to boogie? Stop by the Northbrook Public Library for “Musical Mayhem,” where you and your kids can enjoy some high-energy fun! Safety town
Keep your children safe by teaching them the importance of safety in everyday situations. In “Safety Town” your child will travel within miniature city streets where they will learn about traffic and bike safety. Other topics covered will be fire safety, pool safety, poison safety, stranger danger, and using 9-1-1. For 4- to 6-year-olds. When: 10 a.m. to noon or 1-3 p.m. May 30 through June 8. Put an entire recording studio right on your Mac with GarageBand! Come to a hands-on workshop where you’ll learn compose your own song with software instruments and/or your own voice. Cooking class with a famous chef
Step into the kitchen with legendary American Chef, Thomas Keller! Keller will teach you how to make everyday doable and beloved meals from all around the world.
