North Suburban gymnasts excel
YMCA gymnasts took second place in Level 4's at the State Meet

The North Suburban YMCA Gymnastics Team had an outstanding showing at the State Meet held at Edwardsville YMCA May 20. The Level 4 and 5 teams both earned second place trophies, as well as second place in the Super Team category.
The Level 4’s were represented by Carly Anderson, Tess Benson, Emily MacDonald, Molly Fraser, Brianne Barbakoff, Katie Kempff and Christine Jablonsky. In the 9- and 10-year-old division, Carly Anderson had a clean sweep of second place awards on all 4 events and second place all-around with a score of 37.250. Tess Benson came in 2nd on beam, third on vault and fourth all around with a 36.50. Emily MacDonald tied her teammate with a second place finish on vault and came in eighth all-around. Molly Fraser was on the podium with a sixth place finish on floor and 11th all-around.
In the level 4 senior division, Brianne Barbakoff finished her YMCA career as the State Floor Champion with a score of 9.5. She also came in second on vault, bars and third all-around. In the Junior Level 4 division, newcomer Katie Kempff, placed third on floor, fourth on beam and sixth all-around. The other newcomer Christine Jablonsky followed with a second place beam and eighth all-around.
The Level 5 team was represented by Katie Brownlee, Bridget Billig and Liat Berkowitz. In the Junior Division Katie became the new State Bar Champion, as well as second place finishes on vault, beam and all-around. Bridget is the new State Champion on Beam, as well as second place on floor and sixth all around. In the Senior Division Liat won dual state championships on vault and beam, with 2nd place on floor and all-around.
Their lone Level 6 competitor was Kara Tyner and she did not disappoint. Kara impressed the judges with a second place floor routine, third place beam and fifth place all-around.
