Sente supports traffic safety efforts

Updated: January 16, 2012 12:40PM

Focusing on traffic safety this holiday season, state Rep. Carol Sente (D-59th) has commended law enforcement on their efforts to combat drunken driving while she continues to seek ways to keep roadways safe.

In its fifth annual Report to the Nation, Mothers Against Drunk Driving recognized the work of Illinois law enforcement to protect citizens from drunken driving. Of the five categories, Illinois received a star in each – the highest rating, and one of only five states to do so.

Sente recently supported House Joint Resolution 35, which creates the Secretary of State’s Advisory Committee on Traffic Safety. The committee’s purpose will be to collect and analyze traffic data and determine what next steps may be taken to enhance safety on Illinois’ roads and highways. The nine-member panel will include: members of the Illinois House and Senate, an appointee from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, an appointee from the National Safety Council, an appointee from the Northwestern University Center for Public Safety, and an appointee from the Illinois State Police.

For information, contact Sente’s constituent service office at (847) 478-9909 or email RepSente@gmail.com.

Sente represents the 59th District, including parts of Buffalo Grove, Lincolnshiire, Riverwoods, Vernon Hills, Prairie View, Mettawa, Lake Forest, Lake Bluff, Green Oaks, Gurnee, Waukegan, Indian Creek, Mundelein, North Chicago, Park City, Wheeling and Northbrook.
