District 28 Notes for May 18

Parade news
The District’s Wind Ensemble and Concert Band will march in Northbrook’s Memorial Day parade May 28. The parade starts 10:30 a.m. at the corner of Cherry Street and Western Avenue.
Family event
Greenbriar School’s County Fair, featuring a picnic meal and games, is scheduled for 5:45 to 7:45 p.m. May 30 at Greenbriar School, 1225 Greenbriar Lane. The County Fair is an end-of-year celebration for the Greenbriar community, sponsored by the Greenbriar PTO’s Family Programs committee.
Families are invited to bring dinner and eat together. Children and their families may participate in a wide variety of outdoor games and enjoy music provided by a DJ.
Greenbriar Book Fair
The Greenbriar School Book Fair, “Book Fair Luau: It’s a Reading Celebration” runs from 3 to 8:30 p.m. May 24 and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 25 in the Extended Kindergarten Room at Greenbriar School, 1225 Greenbriar Lane.
The sale will feature books for all ages, including new and award-winning titles, children’s classics and current bestsellers. Parents are encouraged to select books for their children’s summer reading.
Picnic and Ice Cream Social
The first annual Meadowbrook Family Picnic & Ice Cream Social is scheduled for 6:30 to 8 p.m. May 30 at Meadowbrook, 1600 Walters Ave. Families are invited to pack a dinner and a blanket and join in a picnic, ice cream social, dance party and other fun. More information has been sent to Meadowbrook families.
Westmoor Picnic
The Westmoor Family Picnic starts at 6:30 p.m. May 30 and will be held at Westmoor, 2500 Cherry Lane.
