Board of Education meeting
The Board of Education will meet at 6:30 p.m. June 21 in a board working session in the Wood Oaks Library, 1250 Sanders Road, Northbrook.
Volleyball team places second
Congratulations to the members of the Wood Oaks eighth grade volleyball team who recently placed second in the Central Suburban Conference tournament. Team members are: Matt Lillig, Dillon Balk, Jeremy Gottlieb, Daniel Kim, Dino Beniaris, Shawn Thomas, Matt Rosen, Scott Thomas, Nick Karis, Noah Raven, Jeremy Doman and Matt Aminilari.
Track students compete in state
Congratulations to the following Wood Oaks track students who competed in the IESA Class AA State Sectional meet at John Hersey High School and were eligible for state competition: Samantha Moushi — 100-Meter Dash; Sam Moushi, Savannah Duncan, Carly Smith, Emma Vickery — 4 x 200 Relay (School record, with a time of 2:04.7); Emma Vickery, Kathleen Smith, Carly Smith, Samantha Moushi — 4 x 400 Relay (Sectional Champion, school record with a time of 4:44.50); Samantha Graziano — Shotput (Sectional Champion); Scott Thomas — 800-Meter Run (Sectional Champion); Aaron Solomon — 1600-Meter Run (Sectional Champion, with a school record of 4:57); and Adam Melnick, Nick Karis, Scott Thomas, Aaron Solomon — 4 x 200 Relay (Sectional Champion, with a school record of 1:43.90).
Hickory Point’s last Family Night of the year will be an end-of- the- school-year picnic from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on June 1.
Busy schedule for eighth grade students
The eighth grade party will be June 4 and the honors breakfast will be on June 5. On June 6, the awards assembly kicks off the day in the morning, followed by Field Day and graduation at 8 p.m. at Glenbrook North High School.
End of year events
At Shabonee, the end of the year includes the following events: the fourth grade band/orchestra concert will be at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. May 31; Field Day will be June 5; fifth grade lunch celebration will be June 6 and the last day of school will be June 7.
Summer Reading Program begins June 13.
The “Dive into Reading” program will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. on Wednesdays, from June 13 to July 25 in the Hickory Point School library.
Students and parents are invited to attend and talk about books, do crafts, check out books and win prizes.
