Parent Teacher Conferences
Kindergarten through fifth grade parents will be heading to school next week for Parent Teacher Conferences. Most conferences are scheduled from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 17 and from 1 to 8 p.m. Oct. 18. The district is using an online sign-up system that is available through the district’s website, www.northbrook28.net. Parents were mailed a unique identification number and password to access the system. Registration for conferences ends at 10 p.m. Oct. 11. Conferences for Northbrook Junior High School parents are scheduled for the week of Nov. 19. Parents with questions about conferences should contact their child’s school.
Greenbriar Book Fair
The Greenbriar Book Fair, “All Star Book Fair: Every Reader Is A Star,” runs from 1 to 8 p.m. Oct. 11 and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 12, and from 9 a.m. to noon Oct. 13, in the multi-purpose room at Greenbriar School, 1225 Greenbriar Lane. All Greenbriar families are invited to check out crafts, all-star snacks, and a raffle drawing for book fair bucks during Family Fun Night from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 11. The fair will feature new and award-winning titles, children’s classics and current bestsellers.
During the fair, Greenbriar will participate in “All For Books,” an effort to put more books into the hands of children. All funds collected will go directly to several non-profit organizations dedicated to helping children and families in need. In addition, Scholastic will match Greenbriar’s monetary donations and donate books to the school library.
Wreath & Coffee Sale
The District 28 Music Parents Club 56th annual Wreath & Coffee Sale runs through Oct. 12. The Club is selling Wisconsin-grown wreaths and garlands, along with organic coffees and hot cocoa from Deanʼs Beans, and Seeʼs Candiesʼ lollypops and chocolate-covered peanut brittle bars.
This is the only fundraiser for district music programs, and all the profits are spent on enriching District 28ʼs music program. Programs that the money helps to fund include new uniforms, in-house music enrichment programs, guest musicians, conductors and professional music events, festival and contest entry fees, tour meals, student parties and music camp scholarships. Order forms and other information will be made available through the District 28 website, www.northbrook28.net.
Music students will pick up items for delivery to customers 2:30-4:30 p.m. Nov. 16, noon-2 p.m. Nov. 19 and 3-7 p.m. Nov. 27.
