Sportsman’s
pricing should be
more competitive
Recently, I touched on pricing for a round of golf at Sportsmans. Let me explain the situation in more detail.
There are 40 of us that play in a nine hole league at Sporstmans every Monday morning. The league is very well managed by the club, and they are glad we are there. Many of this same group of guys get together during the week for more golf. I spoke with club management last year and stated that we would play Sportsmans more often, if they were not over priced.
“We are priced competitively with Glencoe and Deerfield” was their response.. Either they have their head in a sand trap, or the Park District does. Most of us are retired, on a fixed income, and love to play golf, at a reasonable price.
We shop Great Green Fees.com, Groupon, and any other media for price. I suggest Sportsmans and the Park District look at these media and re-think the way they market Sportsmans. We all go out of our way to support Northbrook businesses, when the price is right.

Luc an important
part of Star
Karie Angell Luc is such a wonderful part of the Northbrook Star. Her wide range of topics is fresh and enlightening. Karie’s love of Northbrook’s history and people is clearly evident in her writing.
I am the current Chair of the Northbrook Arts Commission and, as such, know what an important role truthful and insightful communication plays in our lives. Karie’s writing is a perfect example of how to handle this important process with intelligence, warmth and humor.
I look forward reading Karie’s future columns.
